MICHAEL SHUCKWELL, or, as he has been more familiarly denominated, Mike Shuck, may be presented as a sample of those voluntary barbarians who reside immediately on a frontier, and whose characters present features that render it difficult to determine to which side of the boundary they belong. Having taken up their residence in the neighborhood of the Indian haunts, they have, in many instances, like our hero, adopted the habits and manners of the natives. It was my peculiar good fortune, not many days since, to obtain an interview with this hero of the frontier. He arrived at this village (Boonville) at 12 o'clock.
